Roasted bell peppers are delicious, tender, and flavor filled which makes them a great addition to a multitude of recipes. Although these peppers are available in cans or bottles at the majority of major grocery chains and local shops, most people are unaware of how easy it is to prepare at home. Below you will find detailed instructions on how to do this.
Ingredients
4-6 Large bell peppers
2-3 tbsp Olive oil
Recommended Items (click item below to see on amazon)
Top 4 roasting methods
1) Oven
2) Stove Top
3) Grill
4) Toaster Oven
Directions
The method that we will be using from the list above is #1, the oven. Some people cut the peppers in halves or quarters prior to placing them in the oven. However, from our experience, we prefer to roast the peppers whole, then prepare them for recipes and storage.
Rinse bell peppers thoroughly
Place peppers on a drying towel to remove water
Coat each bell pepper with olive oil
Line your baking tray with parchment paper and coat with a little olive oil
Place bell peppers in baking tray
Set your oven to 425 degrees
Bake for 20 minutes turning the peppers every 5 minutes to ensure a good even roast
Once time has elapsed, remove from oven
Place peppers immediately into Ultra Seal Storage Bowl or equivalent and seal to trap the heat from the peppers.
After 15 minutes, remove peppers from storage bowl to cutting board
Gently remove the first layer of skin off of the peppers
Cut peppers in quarters and remove seeds and stems
At this point, you are finished with the roasting process. All that is left to do is add the necessary amount to a recipe that requires it, and store the rest. The simplest way to store roasted bell peppers is to package them in small quantities and freeze them. You can also bottle them yourself which we will be discussing in another blog.
